Removal of Heavy Metals during Primary Treatment of Municipal Wastewater and Possibilities of Enhanced Removal: A Review

چکیده

Resource reuse has become an important aspect of wastewater management. At present, use sludge in agriculture is one the major routes. Conventional municipal treatment does not involve any designated process for removal heavy metals, and these distribute mainly between effluent sludge. Enhanced metals during primary may decrease metal concentrations both from secondary promote long-term This review considers occurrence settling, together with possible technologies settlers their theoretical performance. The variation total dissolved fraction raw points to a need site-specific assessments appropriate improved removal. Studies examining speciation beyond dissolved/particulate are few. Missing or disparate information on parameters such as hydraulic retention time, pH composition return flows makes it hard generalize findings studies concerning settlers. Coagulation/flocculation low-cost sorbents were identified most promising methods enhancing settling. Based available data sorption be effective Cu Ni, while coagulation efficient Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn Hg (but Ni removal).

Occurrence and Removal of Macrolides in Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants: A Review

Introduction: Macrolides are a group of antibacterial agents. Given their clinical importance, and the consistent rise in resistance among pathogenic bacteria, macrolides have been the targets of extensive research. Materials and Methods: This review considered the number of macrolides in different wastewater and the removal of these drugs. The antibiotics were frequently detected in influents...

A Review of Studies on Micellar Enhanced Ultrafiltration for Heavy Metals Removal from Wastewater

Micellar enhanced ultrafiltration (MEUF) process has been used for the removal of copper, chromate, zinc, nickel, cadmium, serinium, arsenate and organics like phenol, o-cresol. This paper reviews various factors such as operating pressure, surfactant concentration, pH of solution, temperature, presence of non-ionic surfactant and salt, membrane type and its pore size and some inhibiting additi...

Enhanced removal of heavy metals in primary treatment using coagulation and flocculation.

The goal of this study was to determine the removal efficiencies of chromium, copper, lead, nickel, and zinc from raw wastewater by chemically enhanced primary treatment (CEPT) and to attain a total suspended solids removal goal of 80%. Operating parameters and chemical doses were optimized by bench-scale tests. Locally obtained raw wastewater samples were spiked with heavy metal solutions to o...
